About DR. SINGH
Dr. Sarah Singh is a clinician, educator, and researcher whose work focuses on pediatric eye care, childhood myopia, and vision development. She serves as an Assistant Professor of Clinical Optometry at the University of California, Berkeley, where she teaches future eye care professionals while providing clinical care to children and families.
Her interest in pediatric vision began during her optometric training, where a clinical rotation at the California School for the Blind inspired her passion for helping children with visual challenges. This experience led her to pursue advanced training in pediatric optometry and ultimately a Ph.D. in Vision Science focused on myopia mechanisms and eye growth.
Today, Dr. Singh's research centers on understanding how myopia develops, identifying children at risk before vision loss progresses, and evaluating new approaches to prevent and manage childhood myopia. Her work includes studies involving premyopia, axial eye growth, atropine therapy, and innovative methods for early detection of myopia risk.
Beyond research and patient care, Dr. Singh is deeply committed to public education. She advocates for greater awareness of childhood vision health, the importance of outdoor time, early eye examinations, and evidence-based myopia management strategies that can help children maintain healthier vision throughout life.
